A rock is a hard place
Glory from winning matches was irresistible, but I'd stopped enjoying the game. The accident forced an involuntary end. Despairing, I took off for the mountains. One day I stumbled, and flopped on a rock.
The rock boomed, “I too flowed as lava once.”
Without thinking I uttered, “Ugh! Sorry…”
She laughed, “As lava I flowed fast, furious. And I burned through everything. When I was forced to cool, I noticed the sheep started to come. New moss grew in my shade. The dogs arrived to sun themselves on my back. I found new harmony. I just had to look — differently.”

One of my great inspirations is Viktor Frankl who wrote Man’s Search for Meaning (the 1946 book he wrote chronicling his experiences as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps during WW2) and his quote below is the inspiration behind the micro story above.
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
― Viktor E. Frankl
I hope you liked this 100-word tale.
As a psychotherapist i am a big fan of Viktor Frankl too. And I am becoming a fan of your writings Reena Kapoor
Well, well...I have now discovered we share admiration for Viktor Frankl. Like you, that quote remains one of my favorites - I have it next to my computer, and it's the first thing I read every morning.
