First book in any Indian language to win the International Booker Prize

Hello Friends! This is a short in-between post to share with you all my review of this year’s International Booker Prize winner.

My review was just published in a publication called The Unpopulist as part of their series on India’s 75th independence anniversary (August 15th), which is also the anniversary of its troubled Partition.

The book Ret Samadhi was written originally in Hindi by Geetanjali Shree and skillfully translated into English as Tomb of Sand by Daisy Rockwell. It went on to win the International Booker Prize for 2022. That’s a first for a book in any Indian language!
