February slips away today! So a quick and simple post with a few haikus that fit the follies of February and attendant sightings — and hearings.
Some of them were written years ago, but visited me again.
For V-day…and the love that life bestows on lucky ones!
in life's vast expanse
on its lonely trails and streams
be my valentine
The most romantic sight in sight…
strolling, holding hands,
old couple, their quiet smiles
lifetimes ask no words
Glimpses that play on in our senses from the past
Growing up in India, I have a sweet and distinct recollection of the radio playing melodious, old (even then) songs from Hindi films of the 40s through the 60s that my parents so loved. I remember waking up to these melodies every morning.
The memory runs so deep that some of those songs still stop me in my tracks no matter where I hear them. I miss that old time, and that radio’s crackle-flavored sweetness…
old song melodies
alchemy of memory
this soul’s short circuit
What about the here and now?
A million miles away, a gazillion aeons later in my home and garden in California… here’s to the rain in my thirsty garden, and that unmistakable scent…
this racy downpour
garden drenched in petrichor
monsoon memories
And one for the birds :-) - remember those fussy Finches? - that spring will bring!
so little we need
for the bird of joy to sing
she’ll come daily
Hope you liked them at least as much as I soaked in the sightings and listenings that inspired them!
Love them Reena. My favorite is valentines.
I think that crackle of the radio is an enduring memory for all of us. It ignites lovely long forgotten memories :)
