It’s Friday so here’s a new 100-word story!
Water, water everywhere
Toby and Jill, two baby tuna swam past Toby’s mama. Toby’s mama smiled, “Lovely water today!”
After she passed, Jill asked, “Water?”
Toby shrugged, “When I ask, she just says, You'll learn!”
They laughed, started playing, steering clear of shark vibrations. Soon they heard different vibrations. They saw a hard flat thingy floating above them. Suddenly, Jill was flailing, being pulled upwards. In seconds she disappeared. Toby’s mama rushed over. Just then Jill plonked beside them, bleeding. They all dove for the deep, and hid in the coral.
Next day Jill said, “Water is all the good we don’t see.”

Thank you, Thank you…
… all so much for the response to last Friday’s tiny tale Forgotten Letter. You romantics, you! I’m thrilled so many of you enjoyed it and wrote in intrigued and curious for more. It’s coming as a longer short story.

Meanwhile, I’m delighted to report this substack gained its 2nd PAID subscriber!! Thank you so much
for this generosity and support for my words and creations. If you’re local (Bay Area, CA)…
…come see a staged reading of my play on September 16th produced by EnActe Arts, as part of their New Works Festival, in honor of its spiritual founder Jean-Claude Carrière. Full schedule and tickets are here.
And if my call isn’t attractive enough, maybe the line-up of items for the whole festival will help — especially the presence of actor Jaaved Jaffrey as keynote speaker. See below — my play “The Wife” (working title) listed in the lower left corner, is one of three being unveiled at the festival. There will be a talk back with each playwright afterwards.
All for now. New short story coming soon!
