Happiness ... so much pressure. Is it the right word even? Childhood was a period full of light unburdened with any deeper meaning than just existing and requiring the basics of unconditional love, food and shelter. beautiful write up Reena :)
Thanks Mona! You ask a good question. Deeper meanings probably escaped us but I think for too many there were burdens that come back calling. I wonder if we adults would do better if we understood our pasts better….without dwelling there. Hard to balance too.
So true, Jo! A lot of our childhood comes revisiting when we’re caring for our parents as they age - even things we’d forgotten. Thank you for reading and for your insightful comments. ❤️
Re. Gabor - yes I can see how that could be. He deals in tough stuff.
Beautiful poem Reena. It took me back to the rainy days of my childhood in Chennai. Remember playing in puddles and enjoying the cooler weather . Nice to remember the happy days .
I am sorry for your loss but I am glad you are still able to look back at younger times with a fond pair of eyes and heart, it's my favorite time too probably in elementary school that I was most dreamy and creative.
Thanks dear Minh! I appreciate you reading and your comment. Your wise take on life is very admirable. One thing I remember from when I was your age: I was definitely not as wise and thoughtful as you are 😀❤️🙏

Now that the roles have reversed and I am carer to my mother, I'm also reexamining my childhood and the ways I was raised in that I grew out of.
Gabor Mate is a gentle and kind human being. Watch out though: he can be depressing!:))

Thanks Lalitha! So lovely to hear that the poem transported you too to happy memories! Thank you for reading my words.
Thanks! Your reference to childhood memories brought to mind, Proust:

Thanks so much Prabhakar! That’s wonderful. Really appreciate you reading and sending me that.
PS. And I look forward to your musings!
Reena, my "musings", such as they are :-) are now hosted in Medium: https://pk-kpkar.medium.com
As a budding writer, I would appreciate your feedback!!
Looking into moving those into sub-stack. I am a slow writer and hoping to become more productive.
Good idea to migrate to Substack. Look forward!!
Quite moving. xo
Thank you dear Mary! 🙏

Thank you so much Reena!! I have always been somewhat of an overthinker and writing has helped me a lot :) Really appreciate your kind words
