My Indian friend’s mama used to make Barfi, I loved it. Haven’t had it since circa 1975! Xx

what a beautiful story! Loved how you wove real life complex social economic issue into a simple yet rich story. Looking forward to more such literary nuggets from you!

Beautiful, as always. I hope you set up that fantasy town. I’ll move there.

Thanks so much dear Tara! Right? I dream of it… perhaps a little tired I am of the chattering cities and the megaphones that “enlightened” residents feel compelled to shout from… you’re on the list now 😀

Have you thought of publishing a book of your 100 word stories?

I read that Free Press article. It was so hopeful. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Absolutely loved this!! So beautiful and powerful, I am inspired 💫

Also that the 100 word story packs an impact that is different than a leisurely feel in your original story.

What a lovely story, Reena. I loved that the worries died “helpless and weak.” I do have rituals that help me. I’m curious about the paradox of rituals: clinging too tightly to them gives them way too much power and not having any can leave one feeling unrooted.

Thanks Priya! Quite right. Rituals have the power to center us or enslave us; the latter if they become dogma of control…
