This is a special post to WELCOME the many new subscribers who’ve arrived at this blog this year, and to THANK those who’ve been with me longer! I don’t know how or where you’ve all come from, but I’m thrilled you’re here.
For all the new arrivals: You may have noticed, a typical post from me contains a poem, and a related essay on life’s meaning or at least clues I’ve uncovered in understanding where meaning resides. Lately, I’ve also started to share a few of my short stories that have seen the light of publication, in the baffling world of literary journals. Who knew?! PS. The photos I share are all mine, taken and messed with on my crusty old iPhone.
For beloved subscribers who’ve been here longer: I love you for your time, messages, comments, mentions, emails, words IRL, shares with friends and family, words of encouragement you give me! YOU KEEP ME GOING.
The irony of the digital world is that while the promise of content’s “eternal” persistence (~in human lifespans) may have mostly been realized, human attention remains limited. So whether you’re new or have been here for a bit, chances are you’ve missed some of my old posts.
So with the conceit that you may find something worthwhile in my words, I offer this little (re)introduction to a few favorites from the archives.
On losing a beloved dog…
For those unexpected, precious companions in grief…
And even more unexpected arrivals in my garden…
For the price that nomads don’t plan for, but pay dearly…
A simple nostalgia for lost atoms…
Here’s what immigrants smuggle in, even when they claim otherwise…
And finally… Lessons from 2022 I keep reminding myself of…
Hope this will encourage you to check out the rest of the archives for much more! Do leave me a “like” or a comment if something resonated. It makes my day in all sorts of ways.
So glad we met during the story challenge, Reena. I appreciate your writing, wisdom and kindness so much. 💜 Best to you on your continued Substack journey. Happy to be along for the ride. 🙂
The postman is a new favorite!
