So sweet and something all of us parents can relate. The graduation from the back to the front seat happened without my noticing in the mad rush of just "getting on with it" - who knows what that definition of "getting on with it" is - all I know is that it was a wonderful time that feels like it went by too quickly but at that time could not go by quickly enough.
So true Mona! You put it SO well, and so insightful. You're right everything else feels like unimportant now, doesn't it? THANK YOU for reading and writing to tell me - it made my day <3
loved the poem and abs loved the haiku. few words but so profound....you are so talented Reena with your stunning photography to go with such evocative and meaningful prose.
Dear Anita - Thank you so much for your kind words and especially for reading and taking the time to tell me. So much appreciation for your attention. And so glad you liked it.
Beautiful poem and haiku,Reena! As we grow older, the past becomes more present! A larger fraction of our life experiences are in the past as we move past the half-century mark and there is a tendency to wander back. This is good if your experience has been, for the most part, good. I wonder what nostalgia looks like for those whose early childhood or adulthood experience wasn't that great? As long as we keep moving forward while enjoying past memories, life will continue to be beautiful. No Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda regrets...
So true! That’s a great comment and your question is really thought provoking. I wonder if they focus on the moments of peace and joy they had? I wonder if the human brain helps us all do that anyway… worth thinking about. Thanks for reading, Ravi!
Beautiful poem, I really liked the haiku.
Thank you Arjan! Glad you enjoyed it. I think pining for lost time is the human condition, don’t you think?
Many thanks for reading my work and for writing to tell me.
